Matchbox
Interior architect: Kaan Architekten
Location: Eindhoven
The Matchbox building at Strijp-S in Eindhoven demonstrates how architecture, timber construction, and bespoke interior fit-out can reinforce one another. For this biobased building, we delivered the complete custom interior for the office and meeting spaces.
At the heart of the design are calmness, materiality, and integration. The dark red bespoke volumes create an architectural layer within the building’s timber structural framework. These elements combine functions such as pantries, storage, technical facilities, and circulation routes into one coherent whole.
Refined detailing, integrated doors, minimal joint lines, and carefully coordinated materials create an interior that feels calm and understated, while maintaining a strong architectural presence.
The light timber islands and wall volumes complement the modular character of the building and enhance the warm, natural appearance of the interior. The bespoke elements have been fully tailored to the architecture of KAAN Architecten and contribute to the distinctive identity of Matchbox.
The result is an interior where timber construction, functionality, and precision come together in a sustainable working environment with a clear and distinctive character.
